Why Guard Cards?

Awareness and action are not always the same.

People can understand that cybersecurity matters and still have difficulty acting when a message, call, or notice creates pressure. A Guard Card is designed to keep a simple next step visible when it may be difficult to recall one.

Why this matters

Cybersecurity awareness is important, but awareness does not automatically become a consistent behavior. People may feel intimidated, frustrated, overwhelmed, or resigned about online security. In a pressured moment, a person may act quickly, continue a conversation, or avoid the situation altogether.

That is why Cyber Safety Guard focuses on a practical pause:

STOPDo not act under pressure.
ENDClose the contact or hang up.
CHECKUse a contact method you choose.

What the Guard Card is—and is not

The Guard Card is a physical behavioral aid for a stressful moment. It is intended to support a pause and independent checking before a person shares information, clicks a link, moves money, or continues an unexpected interaction.

It does not identify every threat, replace professional advice, or guarantee that an incident will be prevented. It is an educational tool designed to make a safer next step easier to remember.
